Box Office Predictions: Nil Battey Sannata, Laal Rang & Santa Banta Pvt. Ltd.

Three small to medium budget films are releasing this weekend – Nil Battey Sannata, Laal Rang and Santa Banta Pvt. Ltd. None of them is expected to set the Box Office on fire on the very first day of release. The promo of Nil Battey Sannata has been appreciated, though it would all boil down to the word of mouth from the audience. That too is expected to set in mainly from Saturday onwards since the first day would go into gathering the critical acclaim and it would be only towards the end of the day that audience footfall is expected to gain some kind of momentum.

Laal Rang too has an interesting promo, though surprisingly the promotion has been low key. The core premise of ‘blood donation’ scam is interesting but the awareness around this has been very minimal. Led by Randeep Hooda, the film has a very local [Haryana] flavor to it, which means the opening could be marginally better in this region. Again, expect some sort of escalation from Saturday onwards.

Santa Banta Pvt. Ltd. has been complete for a while and is now arriving without any promotion whatsoever. It has a decent starcast of Boman Irani, Vir Das, Neha Dhupia and Lisa Haydon. However, absolutely nothing is known about the core plot of the film and all one can see in a handful of promos is a few gags. In fact, it is tad surprising that the film is seeing a release of sorts across major multiplex chains.

All in all, no fireworks are expected at least on Friday. Chances are that it would be The Jungle Book that would enjoy best collections in its third weekend as well.
