With its release date fixed much in advance, Kill Dil now enjoys a solo arrival this week. For Ranveer Singh, this is a huge high indeed as his Gunday too had arrived solo earlier this year. He has Govinda, Ali Zafar and Parineeti Chopra for company in this Shaad Ali flick, which means the stage is set for it to make it large if the content is strong indeed. However, from opening perspective, it would be lesser than Gunday and a major reason for that is lack of a single chartbuster. The songs haven’t quite worked for the film which means it would all boil down to the actual story on display.
Since the film is a Yash Raj Films production, it would find a very wide release for itself. Hence, even 40%-50% opening (which is expected) should ensure good enough total on Day One. Given the kind of stardom that Ranveer boasts of today, coupled with the fact that the film has been promoted quite intensely, an opening weekend of at least 30 crore would be on expected lines. Post that, since the only competition is in the form of The Shaukeens (which belongs to an altogether different genre), Kill Dil has an opening week ahead to make moolah if it gets thumbs-up from the audience.
There are a couple of other small films in the fray as well, 6-5=2 and Money Back Guarantee, both of which would struggle to get an all-Indian release.
