With Dream Girl as well as Chhichhore going great guns at the box office, new releases like Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, The Zoya Factor have struggled to make their presence felt. In fact, the first battle was to get the right number of screens as well as shows, and then it was about getting traction from the audiences. However, the holdover releases were got the better of it all and as a result, the new releases had to battle it all out.

Nonetheless, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas still managed to get a better score with the weekend score of 4.75 crores*. Not that this number is much promising but in retrospect, it looks like the Sunny Deol directed film could have scored better had it arrived on a different Friday when there wasn’t so much competition.

Box Office: New Releases Stay Low, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas Leads

As for The Zoya Factor, it has surprisingly remained quite low with weekend numbers turning out to be a mere 2.50 crores*. The promo was decent, audience word of mouth was fine, critically too it managed to stand on a fairground, and yet audiences didn’t quite give this Sonam Kapoor and Dulquer Salmaan starrer much of a chance.

After looking at the response of these films, it is quite apparent that audiences were keener to catch up on holdover releases Chhichhore and Dream Girl which were anyways well set and had good momentum built already. On a different day and week, the new releases may just have managed a better outing for themselves. Hopefully, that would now show in their digital arrival.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
