One expected low numbers for the new releases this weekend. However, the collections were even lesser than expected. At least Raman Raghav 2.0 was expected to bring on some moolah but even that was not the case as the film couldn’t cross the 2 crore mark. Moreover, the reviews weren’t too favorable either and they ranged from being below average to ordinary to just about good. The film has arrived amidst a heap of releases and that has further impacted its visibility.
Another trend evidenced this weekend was that except for Raman Raghav 2.0, most other Hindi films were not even reviewed. Junooniyat seemed like a glossy product in the offering but that too went unnoticed. The film has could not collect even half of what Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam’s last release Sanam Re had brought in on its opening day [5.04 crore].

7 Hours To Go had seen some decent push in promotion, especially during last 10-15 days, but it too got a hit from the visibility perspective.
A Scandall expectedly saw poor reviews coming its way and had negligible collections. Ditto for Dil Toh Deewana Hai which arrived without any buzz whatsoever.
Independence Day: Resurgence was the best of the lot, though the collections didn’t quite hit the roof. One expected at least 7-8 crore opening day for the film but it opened on lower numbers (around 5 crore*). Considering the fact that not much is going for other releases, the Hollywood biggie would be seeing comparatively biggest jumps over the weekend.
*Final numbers awaited
Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
