Neerja was the sole runner of the week and brought in around 22.5 crore more. This is the second highest Week Two of the year after Airlift which had brought in 29 crore. The film has done really well at the Box Office and is now around 58 crore.
The film would now be next only to Piku [80 crore] when it comes to female centric films, though it would surpass Kahaani [59 crore] by today, Queen [61 crore] over the weekend and then Mary Kom [64 crore] too by early next week. The Sonam Kapoor starrer is set to enjoy collections in the range of 65-67 crore, which is superb. Superhit!
It was always going to be a tough ride for new releases of the week – Aligarh, Bollywood Diaries, Tere Bin Laden Dead Or Alive, Love Shagun, Rhythm and Dhara 302. With so many movies arriving in a heap, and each of them belonging to offbeat genre, it was always going to be word of mouth as the deciding factor. However, even for that, at least some audience footfalls was necessary. When even that didn’t happen on Day One and the situation didn’t improve over rest of the weekend, the writing was clear on the wall.

Aligarh, despite all the positive reviews and testimonials from the industry folks, proved to be a non-starter. The controversies didn’t help either and the first week closed around the 2 crore mark. This is where it would end its run too. Flop.

Tere Bin Laden – Dead or Alive, despite being a reasonably decent entertainer, couldn’t even come close to the first in the series that was released in 2010. The film gathered around 3.75 crore, which is less than Tere Bin Laden (5 crore), and that tells the tale. Disaster.
Bollywood Diaries was a good film too but wasn’t even showcased well. It failed to generate any numbers whatsoever and folded up under 1 crore.
Love Shagun, Rhythm and Dhara 302 were not even reviewed by mainstream media and were complete non-shows. All disasters.
