Katti Batti has taken just about fair beginning at the Box Office. Though it was pretty much on the cards that the film would rely on word of mouth, a decent beginning was still expected. The film started slow and did see some escalation in collections by end of Friday which resulted in respectable numbers. As a result, around 5.28 crore came in by the close of day which has given the Nikhil Advani directed film a chance to see some escalation over the weekend.
That said, it would have been a much more comfortable position for the film had the opening day been around 7 crore. The numbers that Katti Batti has earned are lesser than Nikhil’s last week release Hero which had brought in 6.85 crore. However, the fact remains that the Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty film had seen a much wider release. Still, since Kangna is on a roll and her Tanu Weds Manu Returns had brought in 8.75 crore on the opening Friday, the expectation were higher. For Imran Khan though, these are fair numbers as his last release Gori Tere Pyaar Mein had seen a disastrous opening day of 3 crore.
The reviews for the film haven’t been flattering which means it would all boil down to how much does audience patronize the film. The true picture would be clearer by tonight as the reviews don’t really count if audience go-ahead is there. The film is basically catering to the urban junta and if they manage to show escalated footfalls over the weekend, Katti Batti can expect a decent recovery.
