Join UsFor a film where majority of trade was pegging a 20 crore start over the weekend, Veere Di Wedding has surpassed expectations in a very huge way.
With almost double the business generated in reality, the film is indeed one of the biggest surprises of the season as far as Box Office outcome is concerned.
In fact if one looks at the first three days numbers of the film, it is playing with the biggies of 2018:
Padmaavat – 78 crore (Thursday release – First three days numbers)
Baaghi 2 – 73.10 crore
Raid – 41.01 crore
PadMan – 40.05 crore
Veere Di Wedding – 36.52 crore
While Padmaavat was a star-studded affair, Baaghi 2 too had surpassed expectations by taking an opening which was double the expectations. Raid and PadMan were almost on the expected lines while being led by superstars. However, Veere Di Wedding was swimming against the tide and has still emerged hugely victorious.
There are hardly any films that actually manage a double-digit score on their first day, least of all the ones that come with an ‘Adults only’ certificate. In case of Veere Di Wedding, there were extreme reactions as well due to expletives. Moreover, there was no male lead either and except for ‘Tareefan’ there weren’t any chartbusters too.
Still, the makers had their conviction in the film and ensured that there was very good marketing and promotion around it followed by a good release. Result? A terrific opening which is amongst the best in the business.
