Buoyed by good collections on the Valentine’s Day, Sanam Re went on to have a fairly decent week. The collections stayed stable at mid-level and as a result, 25.82 crore came in. These are fair collections for the film which has been made at 20.5 crore budget (including P&A).

The film may not have covered as much distance as Yaariyaan which had practically no face value and still brought in 31.5 crore in its opening week. That film too had a major clash with Dedh Ishqiya that collected 20 crore in Week One. Still, just like then when a smaller film had defeated a much bigger affair back in 2014, history has now been repeated by Sanam Re as the film’s collections are much bigger than 20 crore* that Fitoor has brought in.

Box Office - After Yaariyaan v/s Dedh Ishqiya, now Sanam Re trumps Fitoor

Since there are multiple films arriving today, shows for Sanam Re have been largely curtailed. As a result, Sanam Re would fold up around 30-32 crore mark. However, the film’s controlled costs and pre-sales of music, satellite and overseas means that director Divya Khosla Kumar has now managed another plus film to her name.

* Final numbers awaited
