Aamir Khan has done it again. The Bollywood superstar has given this decade’s highest-grossing Bollywood film with Dangal. The much-loved film which released back in 2016 did a domestic business of 387.39 crores which is unbeatable even after 3 years of its release.
This is the second time Aamir has recorded the highest grosser of the decade. The last time he did the same, it was with his 2009 release, 3 Idiots. The film also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, R Madhavan & Sharman Joshi collected 202 crores 10 years back and crossed all the previous records.

1940-1949: Barsaat
Starring Raj Kapoor & Nargis, Barsaat released back in 1949. The film collected 2 crores at that time and become top grosser of the decade.
1950-1959: Mother India
Mother India (1957) is still remembered as one of the best films of Indian Cinema. Released back in 1957 and starring Nargis along with Sunil Dutt, this film collected 8 crores at that time.
1960-1969: Mughal-E-Azam
Starring Prithviraj Kapoor, Madhubala & Dilip Kumar, this one released in 1960 and surpassed Mother India by collecting 11 crores. No film for the next 13 years could equal the business of Mother India. It was in 1973 when Bobby released and did the business of 11 crores.
1970-1979: Sholay
1975 classic Sholay starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan & Hema Malini broke every previous record by leaps and bounds. It collected 35 crores back then and proved to be the highest grosser of the decade.
1980-1989
No film could manage to beat the epic business Sholay did in this decade.

1990-1999
Then in 1994, Sooraj Barjatya’s family drama Hum Aapke Hain Koun! starring Salman Khan & Madhuri Dixit in lead did the much-awaited task. The film did a historic business of 73 crores and broke the record of Sholay by a huge margin.
2000-2009
Now, this was a pretty impressive decade as far as the Box Office records are concerned. 2001 release Gadar: Ek Prem Katha crossed HAHK by earning 78 crores. Then in 2007, Om Shanti Om edged past it by collecting 79 crores. Soon in 2008, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring Shah Rukh Khan & Anushka Sharma crossed OSO. It did a business of 84.50 crores and was beaten by Aamir Khan’s Ghajini which proved to be the first 100 crores grosser of Bollywood. Then in 2009, Aamir Khan gave Bollywood its first 200 crores grosser with 3 Idiots.
2010-2019
Dangal proved to be the highest grosser followed by Sanju.
