What governs star prices in Bollywood? Do awards increase a star’s price?
Komal Nahta: In India, awards are not as significant as in Hollywood. Awards may be making an impact on the fees a star commands but only marginally. Otherwise, star prices are mostly governed by the laws of demand and supply.
What is more correct – an actor being selected by the demands of the story or an actor being fitted into a story?
Komal Nahta: Technically speaking, an actor should be selected on the basis of the demands of the script. But there have been instances of actors being fitted into a story and yet, the film has done extremely well at the box-office. At the end of the day, the actor should look believable in the character he is portraying.
To what do you attribute the bumper opening of Agneepath on Thursday (January 26) – the marketing, the trailers, the Chikni Chameli song or the Republic Day holiday?
Komal Nahta: To all the factors listed by you, but why are you forgetting other factors like brand Agneepath, Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and the person behind the film, Karan Johar, who himself is a brand?
