Barfi! has a Great 2nd Weekend at the Box Office

Barfi! performed stunningly and we must admit quite unexpectedly in it’s 2nd weekend. The movie made 3.70 Crores on Friday, 5.70 Crores on Saturday and about 7.50 Crores on Sunday.  Barfi! which is now also India’s official entry into the Oscars made about 17.1 Crores at the domestic box office in its 2nd weekend.

The Ranbir Kapoor starrer now stands at a domestic box office total of 75.6 Crores. Barfi! has also responded well at the overseas box office making in the likes of 18.5 Crores. This brings up the total worldwide box office collections of the movie to 94.3 Crores.

It seems the Oscar nomination also helped Barfi! garner more footfall at the multiplexes. The movie which was essentially a multiplex flick was not expected to make so much of money. However, it seems Indian audiences still believe in rich content. The jump in box office collections first on Friday, then Saturday and finally Sunday speaks for itself.

Barfi! should ideally complete this week in about 24 Crores. What’s more Barfi! can actually touch the 100 Crore mark on it’s worldwide box office collections. Last weeks release Heroine seems to have had no averse effect on Barfi! whatsoever. In fact, the latter has been burning huge holes in the box office collections of Heroine itself.
