Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan and Akshay Kumar – Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is ready to clash at the box office. This took us to a time when a similar box office clash happened in 1998. It was Shah Rukh Khan & Kajol VS Govinda & Amitabh Bachchan, and while you know who won, we will tell you what you do not know!

BMCM’s Higher Opening

Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan were an interesting combination to watch on screen, and director David Dhawan knew very well that he had struck gold. So despite knowing that clashing with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai might hamper both films, the clash happened, and as expected, Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan destroyed Shah Rukh Khan & Kajol‘s iconic DDLJ pair on the first day of the battle!

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan opened at 1.04 crore at the box office. Almost 19% higher than Kuch Kuch Hota Hai‘s opening day. Karan Johar’s directorial debut earned only 87 lakh at the box office. However, what happened next was historical, and the world witnessed a changing phase of Hindi Cinema!

The First Weekend

BMCM’s first weekend contributed 3.17 crore to its total collection. Meanwhile, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai tried matching Big B on the second day of release itself since both films collected a little more than 1 crore on day 2. The first weekend of K2H2 closed at 2.74 crore.

Lifetime Collection

BMCM earned 6.28 crore in the first week itself and ran for 9 weeks at the box office. It registered a collection of 19.05 crore in India and 35.14 crore worldwide. On the other hand, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai earned 5.64 crore in the first week and ran for 10 weeks at the box office, registering 46.88 crore in its lifetime and 91.09 crore worldwide!

Budget & Profit

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was made on a budget of 14 crore, and the film registered a massive profit of 234.86% at the box office, which was very high for a debutante. The film was an All Time Blockbuster. Meanwhile, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was made on a budget of 10 crore and earned 90% profit at the box office. It was declared a hit.

A Similar Clash

Just like this massive Diwali clash, Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan and Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan are clashing this Eid. Hopefully, both films earn a hit tag at the box office.
