On Friday, Article 370 had done very well, with 6.12 crores, and some sort of push had come due to reduced ticket rates since Cinema Lovers Day was being celebrated. However, as I had mentioned yesterday as well, the push due to this very factor was negligible since the film is anyways a class affair, and even with somewhat lesser footfalls, higher ticket prices would have ensured that the first-day collections were still around the 5 crores mark at least.
That’s the reason why it was imminent that there would be a growth in collections on Saturday. The reason is that this one is the kind of film that grows quite well over the weekend with word of mouth kicking in, and that’s exactly what happened in this case as well, with footfalls staying going further up with a 48% jump in collections. As a result, 9.08 crores came in, and that’s quite good all over again. Especially if one looks at the fact that Article 370 is primarily a Yami Gautam-led film and Priyamani is the only other known face (mainly from OTT), the collections are indeed impressive.

Article 370 has now reached 15.20 crores, which means a weekend in excess of 25 crores is now a given. There will be further growth in collections today as well and even during weekdays, the drops would be quite restricted. Directed by newcomer Aditya Suhas Jambhale, Article 370 has managed to stir emotions, and that will keep the footfalls coming in for many more days and weeks to come.
