Arjun The Warrior Prince Tries Hard But Would That Be Enough?

As expected, absolutely nothing moved on the Bollywood front over the weekend gone by. Yes, there were a large number of films but majority of them were fillers which just were destined to just come and go without making any presence felt whatsoever. This means that each of these releases – Love Recipe, Rakhtbeej, Yeh Khula Aasmaan, Love, Wrinkle-Free and MLA – An Inside Intruder – proved to be a disaster at the box-office. So much so that most of them would struggle to record collections that would place them in the Top-10 Hindi films of the week, what with past releases like Ishaqzaade, Vicky Donor and Avengers doing much better.

Not just was the content of most of these films was (expectedly) weak, even the release placement was haphazard with (as stated last week) only 1-2 shows in select multiplexes. Result? Out and out flop shows that won’t even step into the second week, what with Rowdy Rathore all set to invade all over, whether multiplexes or multiplexes.

The only Hindi film that still manages some collections, though again on the lower end, was Arjun – The Warrior Prince. Still, a little over 1 crore coming in the opening weekend, though face saving at the least, wasn’t heartening enough to make those associated with it jump with joy. Yes, it did get good reviews but then the promotion was nil and awareness hardly there, as a result of which even this film would find it difficult to find much sustenance for itself.

Expectedly, the film that did rake in moolah at the box office was Men In Black 3 which fetched over Rs. 10 crore in it’s opening weekend. A good result for a film which isn’t as popular a franchise in India as, say a Spiderman or a Harry Potter or sa Mission Impossible.
