Amitabh Bachchan Scores A Big Winner With Pink | Opening Weekend Report

Wow, what a turnaround! A few months back when Amitabh Bachchan’s TE3N had released, it didn’t really warm up either the critics or the audiences. The film took a dull beginning, had a sluggish weekend and then ended its lifetime run with a score of just 19 crore. That was quite disappointing for audiences who were looking forward to yet another spectacular show from the actor who has entertained cinema lovers for over four decades.

Well, the wait wasn’t for too long as Big B’s thunderous baritone has returned with Pink and audiences too are giving a nod of approval by means of continued footfalls which resulted in a weekend of 21.51 crore.

While this also means that the entire lifetime collections of TE3N have been crossed in three days flat by Pink, it also reflects the changing tastes of audiences who have been happy to grab this unconventional narrative for a grim subject that could have possibly met with a fate similar to that of Angry Indian Goddesses if not backed well by someone as influential as Shoojit Sircar.

Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Pink also features Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Angad Bedi, Andrea Tariang, Piyush Mishra and Dhritiman Chatterjee in key roles.
