In Bollywood, we have seen a rise in the trend of sequels or trilogies. But there’s an only countable number of films which have witnessed tetralogy i.e. four instalments. In fact, there are only four- Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal, Akshay Kumar’s Housefull and Raaz, Hate Story, which have served four parts to the audience.
So, in today’s piece, we’ll be taking a look at the aforementioned tetralogies. Most particularly, we will enlighten you with the box office performance of Ajay led Golmaal, Akshay led Housefull, Emraan Hashmi led Raaz (except for part one) and Hate Story.

Raaz v. Golmaal v. Housefull v. Hate Story
The oldest release amongst all is Raaz. Those who have followed this horror franchise, still consider the first one featuring Dino Morea-Bipasha Basu, the best one. Released in 2002, the film made 22 crores in India and was a super-hit. Now, coming to Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal- Fun Unlimited, the film released in 2006 was a box office hit with a sum of 29.50 crores. Akshay Kumar’s Housefull arrived in 2010 and made 74.40 crores. It was a hit. Hate Story kick-started its franchise in 2012. The first instalment was a commercial flop with 14.02 crores’ collection.
Raaz – The Mystery Continues v. Golmaal Returns v. Housefull 2 v. Hate Story 2
From second instalment onwards, Emraan Hashmi joined the Raaz franchise. Released in 2009, the film was a semi-hit or plus affair with a sum of 26 crores. Golmaal Returns released in 2008 and made 51.90 crores. It was declared as a hit. Housefull 2 released in 2012 and earned 114 crores and earned a super-hit tag. Hate Story 2 featuring Surveen Chawla was a plus affair. Released in 2014, it made 27.16 crores.
Raaz 3 v. Golmaal 3 v. Housefull 3 v. Hate Story 3
Raaz 3 released in 2012, is the biggest success in the franchise. It made 70 crores in India and was a super-hit. Golmaal 3 released in 2010 and made 106.30 crores with a super-hit tag. Released in 2016, Housefull 3 turned out to be a plus affair with a collection of 107.70 crores. Hate Story 3 remains to be the biggest in the franchise with a collection of 53.50 crores. Released in 2015, the film was a super-hit.
Raaz Reboot v. Golmaal Again v. Housefull 4 v. Hate Story 4
Raaz Rebbot released in 2016 was a big flop. It just earned 29 crores. Released in 2017, Golmaal Again turned out to be the highest grosser in the franchise with 205.72 crores. In was amongst the super-hits of 2017. Released in the last year, Housefull 4 earned 206 crores to become biggest of Akshay Kumar’s franchise. It was a box office hit. Featuring Urvashi Rautela, Hate Story 4 was an average affair. It earned just 20.04 crores in 2018.
