Over the weekend gone by, A Flying Jatt collected almost double of the other two Hindi films in the running – Happy Bhag Jayegi and Rustom. That said, former is in its second week and latter is in the third week. Moreover, the film is running at more than double the number of screens that are distributed between the other two films.

The Remo D’Souza film collected on similar lines as the opening day [9 crore] for the rest of the weekend too, as a result of which the extended four day weekend collections have come to 29.45 crore. The film has a week open for itself and for that it would need heavy patronage from kids.

Happy Bhag Jayegi is keeping its date with the youth though. A kind of film which would have perhaps done even better had it been planned for Valentine’s Day arrival, the Diana Penty starrer managed to accumulate 4.46 crore more in its second weekend. A total of 22.11 crore so far has brought the film into a zone from where it can be termed as a safe outing once the lifetime total sets in.

Ideally, it should have been a much smoother sailing for the film right from the onset, something that would have taken it past the 30 crore mark. Still, the fact that it is still finding audience is ‘happy’ news indeed for the makers!

As for the makers of Rustom, there are continued celebrations already and now it is time to track more records. The film gathered 5.27 crore more in its third weekend, as a result of which the overall collections are now 122.28 crore. It is now a matter of few more crore before it surpasses Airlift [129 crore] to be the second highest grosser of the year after Sultan.

The fact the Salman Khan starrer is the only one to have gone past the 300 crore mark and the next three flicks are all Akshay Kumar starrers pretty much signifies that these are the only two superstars who have kept the Box Office engaged in 2016.
