The historical drama was expected to be a game changer for Bollywood. In fact director Ashutosh Gowariker had given more than half a decade just for this one film to make it count as a dream outing. The film was hyped well till the promo was unveiled and even though that didn’t work, it was expected that the grand vision of Ashutosh coupled with the star power of Hrithik Roshan would take it through.

However, this hasn’t happened, what with only 46 crore* coming in six days. With just 3 crore* more on Wednesday, the film is seeing very less footfalls (which is accounting to less than 25% occupancy in theaters). This is very low for a film of this scale, grandeur and treatment as Mohenjo Daro was expected to be at least a 125 crore+ film even in the worst case scenario.

Currently though, it would do half the business as the lifetime would come to a half around the 65 crore mark. Now that would be ultra low for a film which has Hrithik Roshan in the lead. Considering the fact that his last release Bang Bang had done a business of 181 crore and Mohenjo Daro would be close to one third of that, one can well imagine the kind of disappointment it has turned out to be for all involved.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
