With the kind of opening that Ghayal Once Again and Sanam Teri Kasam had taken on Friday, it was pretty much the need of the hour for both to see some sort of escalation on weekend and then stay steady over the weekdays.
Let’s talk about Ghayal Once Again first. The Sunny Deol starrer didn’t really take massive jumps on Saturday and Sunday but there was no fall either, which was positive to some extent at the least. Since it is an expensive film, a 30 crore weekend was expected. Still, the film was doing well in some pockets and hence the weekdays gave it a chance. Thankfully, the film is keeping steady – though at mid-level, what with around 2.70 crore more coming in on Tuesday. As a result, the film now stands at 29.55 crore mark after 5 days. The film should now cross the 35 crore milestone before end of first week.

Sanam Teri Kasam isn’t doing bad with its target audience. Seeing a mid-level release for itself, considering its out and out new cast, the film is quite stable during the weekdays. The film gathered around 1 crore* more on Tuesday, and with the collections stand around the 7 crore* mark. The film’s good production values mean that collections of at least these levels were pretty much needed. Still, since the film is being liked by its target audience, i.e. youth, it is pretty much on the cards that the rest of the week would pass by with decent numbers as well.
It would be interesting to see the kind of hold that the Harshvarddhan Rane and Mawra Hocane film enjoys in the second week, as there are two more quintessential Valentine’s Day releases – Sanam Re and Fitoor – releasing over the weekend.
*Final numbers awaited
Note: All collections as per production and distributor sources
