1920 – Evil Returns & Luv Shuv… Battle It Out with Skyfall – Box Office Predictions

Just a couple of weeks back we saw as many as half a dozen films arriving in theatres and all failing miserably at the box office. It was feared that the situation would be repeated this week as well. Thankfully though, a couple of them have moved away for one reason or another which means as of now, the clash has boiled down to four films – 1920 – Evil Returns, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, Ata Pata Laapata and Future To Bright Hai Ji.

Out of these films, the ones which promise decent footfalls at the least are 1920 – Evil Returns and Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana. The former benefits from the fact that it comes from the house of Vikram Bhatt and belongs to a franchise that had a good start with 1920 a few years back. Even though the film is not a sequel, it comes with good expectations to be a fair entertainer, courtesy its genre. Vikram has proved his mettle with horror and the promos indicate that his protégé Bhushan Patel has carried forward the mood well.

On the other hand Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana never quite took a head start in its promotion. Even though the one backing the film is Anurag Kashyap, the satellite/online/print promotion didn’t quite carry the kind of zing that Aiyyaa had. Though one may argue that good visibility didn’t help the Rani Mukerji starrer either, for a film like ‘Luv Shuv…’, a little more vigour would have helped. This has happened just in time though this week, what with early screenings resulting in good promotion on social networking. This also enhances the film’s fortunes and gives it a chance to grow from word of mouth.

Ata Pata Laapata, Future To Bright Hai Ji and Skyfall Movie Posters

Ata Pata Laapata is the directorial debut of Rajpal Yadav but sadly hasn’t seen much buzz building around it. On the other hand hardly anything is known about Future To Bright Hai Ji which is releasing out of nowhere. The first challenge for these films would be to see an all-India release.

The one which would get an all-India release is James Bond franchise Skyfall which is expected to invade the screens in a big way and collect maximum moolah of them all.
