Sonam Kapoor looks resplendent always and probably with her doing her item number in Khoobsurat, there hasn’t been a more inappropriate Disney princess. In an interview with Koimoi, Sonam Kapoor explains that the film exactly attempts on making the same point. Khoobsurat, that is a loose remake of the classic Hrishikesh Mukherjee film of the same name, is more pertinent in today’s times where the society raises the need for a girl to be a certain way to seem pleasing.
Sonam, talking about the same, elucidates, “We have made Khoobsurat into a Disney Fairytale and primarily a love story. It is a message to young girls that you don’t need to be a perfect princess to land yourself a prince. It is a very simple love story with a strong message. You do not have to wrack your brains to understand a film of this order. As a girl, the society trains you to be a certain way so that you can land a guy. There is a lot of pressure to be a certain kind of appealing, pleasing woman! The point being made here is that you don’t have to change yourself to land a guy. If someone really loves you, they will love you for who you are. Fair skin, BA degrees and no boyfriend history should not be the criterion for a girl. This is the kind of things that you see in matrimonials. “
Continuing from there, the actress adds, “There is a dialogue in the film where she says that I won’t change myself for a guy. She believes that your prince charming will come your way if he is meant for you. You don’t have to change who you are. You don’t have to look a certain way. You don’t have to behave a certain way. Just be who you are, even if you are a misfit, you might just fit in.”
Khoobsurat starring Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan is all set to release this Friday. Directed by Shashank Ghosh, the film is a fairytale variety of love story!
