Was it a sensible decision to release two comedy films together this week?

– There’s nothing wrong in releasing two comedy films in the Diwali week because the mood is celebratory and, what’s more, people have more spending power because bonus is paid by a lot of organisations just before Diwali. However, when one of the films (Golmaal 3, this year) is a huge brand, the other film (Action Replayy) is bound to be at the receiving end, as far as initial goes.

Producers often talk of remaking old hits. How is it that nobody wants to remake the biggest of them all, ‘Sholay’?
– Ram Gopal Varma remade it as Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. It may have been a lousy attempt but because it bombed so badly, no producer would now have the courage to attempt another remake of the blockbuster, however serious. Besides, cult films like Sholay may best be left untouched.
