Akshay Kumar has always maintained his Khiladi image. Synonymous with the persona of a sleek actor, Akshay has been donning many hats including that to trying his hands at different roles, continuing in his expert zone but constantly reinventing himself.
In an exclusive candid chat with Koimoi, Kumar told us, “Special 26, Fugly and Holiday are all my films. I have to diversify myself all the time. Media constantly monitors us like hawks. If at all you turn repetitive, they will catch you and make you realize that you are repetitive. Media intervention is a good thing. And eventually, it is inevitable to work towards diversifying.”
Akshay continued saying, “I’m producing different films and also taking up varied roles. Neeraj Pandey’s Baby is diametrically different from It’s Entertainment where I play the lead alongside a dog. I constantly have to keep jumping and you’ll never find me doing the same kind of films. And this stands true for every actor. We are always hungry and need to keep doing different films.”
Khiladi Kumar is one of the busiest actors of the tinsel town. Akshay’s releases are not spaced out comfortably but rapidly repeats within thin gaps. When we asked Akshay about the same, he confided, “It has been 9 months since the release of Boss. And now I have two releases in the coming days. Every producer comes up with a date and has a mindset. I told Vipul Shah and Reliance to release the film ahead. Probably sometime in January or March. But they decided to come in June. I don’t pressurize them because Reliance knows their job very well. If I request them and then the film doesn’t work, they will say ‘we told you August was a much better month.’ I try and keep myself aside from having a conflict with my producers. I don’t argue with them despite my films clashing with each other or closing in on each other. I can surely manipulate them but I let it pass.”
The actor continued with, “I am not like other actors who’ll say ‘chal teri dubbing hi nahin karunga main’. I can’t explain too much to my producers about release dates. There must be some strategy about figuring out the right release date for the film. On my part, all my films are ready. Be it this, It’s Entertainment or Gabbar. I have kept everything ready. Now it’s up to them when they want to release it. I would prefer a five months gap between my films but after all it is their call.”
Akshay seemed really thrilled about Holiday. Featuring alongside Sonakshi SInha, the film that is a remake of Tamil blockbuster Thuppakki is all set to release on 6th June.
