When it came to their big Diwali release Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Yash Raj Films went ahead and announced the film months ago. However what is rather surprising is that for their biggest film ever, Dhoom:3, they are in no hurry to make any announcements.
“Earlier there were speculations that Dhoom:3 would be Chopras’ big Diwali release in 2013 as well. However, as of now it is only Krrish 3 which has been confirmed for that. In fact Roshans have made their intentions clear more than a year in advance,” informs a source.
The next obvious choice was Christmas but since Aamir Khan‘s P.K. with Rajkumar Hirani has blocked that date, arriving on that day is also ruled out. “It is unimaginable that there would be two Aamir releases on the same day,” an observer adds.
However, the fact remains that a substantial portion of Dhoom:3 has already been shot and there is no way that the film would be pushed all the way to 2014. However given the fact that all big ticket films are usually being reserved for holidays, there is none that is seemingly available for Chopras and Aamir. Also, Eid is anyways seeing Akshay Kumar’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 coming while Salman too has his eyes set on the same day for his next film with Sohail Khan.
No wonder, those at YRF are currently non-committal around the arrival of Dhoom:3 which makes it their first ever biggie for which release date hasn’t been finalised as yet. However they have made it clear that the film with Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in other principal roles will most definitely arrive in 2013.
When contacted, Rafiq Gangjee, Vice President – Marketing & Communications, Yash Raj Films, said, “Dhoom:3 is slated for a 2013 release. There is no release date yet.”
Does that mean that 2013 could well turn out to be a rare year when Aamir Khan has two of his films releasing within a few months of each other? Will Aamir make an exception?
