Will Salman Let Kangana Use The Title Mental For Her Next?

Kangana Ranaut without any doubts is one of the finest actresses Indian Cinema so far has seen. From Fashion to Tanu Weds Manu Returns she has set the silver screen on fire with her excellent acting skills. The Simran actress is currently working on her first-period drama Manikarnika: the Queen of Jhansi. Once she wrappes up shooting for the movie, she plans on moving on to her next project, a whodunit produced by Shailesh R Singh. Kangana is very excited to experiment with this genre, but before that she has her heart set on a title for her upcoming film. As fate would have it, the title is already registered in the name of Salman Khan.

Kangana wants to name her upcoming movie with Shailesh R Singh, Mental. According to a report in midday, a source from the production unit revealed, “Kangana and Shaileshji are both keen to title their film Mental. They both think that it goes wonderfully with the story. But when the producers contacted Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association [IMPPA], they realized that the copyright of the name rests with Salman Khan Films [SKF]. Salman’s team had registered the title a few years back when they were toying with the idea of naming Kabir Khan’s then under-production film, Mental. However, they later changed it to Tubelight.”

The makers of the untitled mystery drama film have reached out to Khan’s team, to procure the title. “They have also requested Kangana to have a word with Salman,” adds the source. A source from SKF indicates that the superstar, known for his generous ways, may not hesitate to part with the title. “At the moment, there’s no project that could use the title. Unless Bhai has something in mind, he will allow Shaileshji to go ahead with it.”

Kangana was earlier approached for the role which later was done by Anushka Sharma in Sultan. But she had turned it down citing reasons that the script and the role were great but she did not find anything substantial for her to do in the movie. What has been heard is that this turning down by Kangana did not affect the cordial equation that both Kangana and Sallu Bhai share.

Only time will tell if this warm and friendly terms between them help Kangana in acquiring her desired title for the film.
