Why was Desi Boyz released in the Overseas circuit on Wednesday (23rd November) instead of Friday (25th), as is usual?

Komal Nahta: Desi Boyz was released on Wednesday in the US only because of the long Thanksgiving weekend. It grossed US $80,000 on the opening day. De Dana Dan, also starring Akshay Kumar, like Desi Boyz, had collected $40,000 on the opening day.

Komal Nahta: A fantastic opening – that too, in the multiplexes as well as in single-screen cinemas. The trailers of The Dirty Picture and the Ooh la la song have won the audience’s hearts.

Are 3D films the way ahead for Bollywood?

Yes, they could be, provided the kind of films producers make changes. At least, a section of the producers would have to make film that would make viewing in 3D a pleasurable experience. Simplistic love stories or family dramas may not offer themselves to the 3D mania.
