Together they had delivered a big success in the form of Love Aaj Kal two years ago and now that Cocktail seems like an extension of the film, as far as genre and presentation is concerned, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone have good expectations that the audience will give a green signal to their pairing.
“They were last seen in Aarakshan but then there was hardly any romance there. The Prakash Jha film was more about politics and educational system which means there was no chance whatsoever for Saif and Deepika to get cosy. However things have changed in Cocktail where they get to flaunt their chemistry all over again, something that was more than just apparent in Love Aaj Kal,” says a source.
Even from commercial standpoint there is a lot hanging in there for both the actors. Though Saif Ali Khan was appreciated for his performance in Kurbaan, Aarakshan and Agent Vinod, ultimately it all boiled down to how many people actually saw these films in theatres. Ditto for Deepika Padukone who has done well in the interim period but missed a big success.
“Yes, Housefull did well but then she would be definitely pining for a solo success where she is central to the plot,” the source continues.
No wonder, for both actors Cocktail is one affair they are looking at getting high on. Thankfully for them the promos have done the trick and while they are currently shooting for Race 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani respectively, they are in constant know-how of the buzz that the film is creating.
Though none of the two actors were available for comment, a common friend reveals, “They have some huge plans up their sleeves to promote the film to the maximum. They understand how crucial the film is to them and since it is one of such safe outings that are readily grabbed by the youngsters, they would be targeting it at them in a big way. Expect a lot of noise to be made once they actively start promoting the film.”
