A still from Players
The assumption now is that Players won’t last in the cinemas for three weeks.

It’s funny how the two sides of a coin can present such varying pictures when it comes to Bollywood business. A week before Players had released, the trade people were talking about how the absence of major/big releases in the next two weeks would benefit Players as it would get a free run. Obviously, the assumption was that Players would score at the box-office. Looking to the cold public response the film got in the opening weekend, the same absence of big releases has turned from being a boon to becoming a bane. Of course, the boon would have been for Players whereas the bane would now be for the exhibitors. For, in the absence of major releases in the coming two weeks, exhibitors won’t have films to screen. The assumption now is that Players won’t last in the cinemas for three weeks.
