Yes, you read that right. SRK’s on-screen father from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge and Madhuri Dixit’s on-screen father from Hum Aapke Hain Koun has stuck his humble payments despite his film The Kashmir Files raking in moolahs at the box office.
Anupam Kher started his career with a film titled Saransh and earned a position for himself in the industry right from his first film, which was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The film won him accolades and status as a performer in the industry, and there has been no looking back for him ever since.

In his autobiography, Anupam Kher mentioned that he had been paid 10,000 INR for his debut film. He played an elderly father in Saaransh, and the film was released in 1984. Later, Anupam Kher shot to fame, playing fathers to some of the biggest superstars in the industry. However, after Saaransh, he played the antagonist in a lot of films, including Sridevi’s Chalbaaz until he shot to fame playing Shah Rukh Khan’s father in DDLJ.

The superstar’s box office stardom came along with The Kashmir Files, where he played the lead. The film collected 252.50 crore at the box office. However, Anupam Kher’s fee for his most successful box office film is 99,900% higher than the salary for his first film. Interestingly, the producers of Saaransh and Rajshri films wanted a popular name for the film, and the role almost went to Sanjeev Kumar until Kher blasted director Mahesh Bhatt for the same.
