Veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor passed away on Thursday morning in the presence of his loved ones. Wife and actress, Neetu Kapoor have always been there by his side to support and take care of him. Sanju actor and son, Ranbir and daughter Riddhima have the pillar of strength for Rishi ever since he was diagnosed with cancer.
In the year 2019, Neetu spoke to Times Now and revealed the first reaction when she got to know about Rishi’s cancer and mentioned that she and both kids were ‘devastated’.
“My first reaction was, obviously very bad, I was devastated, my kids were devastated. We didn’t know what to do. But then we thought to ourselves that this is it, we have to deal with it. Where he (Rishi) is concerned, he was in denial. For 4-5 months, he was not himself,” said Neetu.

Rishi then chipped and revealed how people dramatise and think how dreadful the disease is unless you feel it so closely because it is. “The thing is, people think and we dramatise in films, that cancer is a dreaded disease. Yes, it is. But today, it is all treatable, if diagnosed at an early stage, it can be dealt with. Cancer is curable and also, you have to have family support. Filmon me humne background music daal, dool ke itna kharab kiya hai naam cancer ka (We have given a bad name to cancer with all the background music that we used in films)! Today it its treatable, people are dealing with all kinds of cancer …just have to be positive,” Rishi added.
Neetu also revealed how all of sudden she became his mother and started taking care of him as a kid and said, “Mujhe laga, I became his mother. Like, like he was my third child…khana, sona, dawaiyaan…jaise bacche ko look after karte hain. I just became a mother. A mother wants to do the best.”
That’s really sweet of Neetu to do all of this. She has fought with Rishi till his very last breath and her courage has absolutely no boundaries.
