It is said that the Bollywood showman Raj Kapoor had a Midas touch. Raj Kapoor’s 1982 directorial Prem Rog has become a classic cult movie in Bollywood history. The blockbuster musical drama starred Rishi Kapoor and Padmini Kolhapure in lead roles.
Padmini Kolhapure started her acting and singing career at a very young age. The actress went on to become one of the leading ladies of the 80s Hindi cinema, delivering hits like Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Dream Girl, and Ishk Ishk Ishk, all while she was a child artist.

But Padmini’s major acting breakthrough came in 1982 in the form of Prem Rog. The movie was a mega-blockbuster, certifying Padmini as one of the leading actresses in the 80s.
The actress often looks back at the memories of the film with a lot of fondness and only has niceties to say about the remarkable Showman, Mr. Raj Kapoor.

But, as it turns out, the two were not all rosy. During the shooting of Prem Rog, the tussle between the actor and director went overboard to the point that Raj Kapoor walked off the set.
Reports describe the incident, stating that during the shooting of Prem Rog, Padmini was asked to do an intimate scene with Rishi Kapoor by director Raj Kapoor. However, the Dream Girl actress was uncomfortable with the scenes, and when she expressed her displeasure, Raj Kapoor was annoyed.
Things got so heated that Raj Kapoor walked off the set, and soon after, Padmini left the set. After a while, when things calmed down, the scenes were shot as they were intended, without the intimate scenes.
Reflecting on her bond with the director extraordinaire Raj Kapoor, Padmini has always said that she was very fond of him, but when he became angry, he would lose it. “He had a bad temper, and if he lost it, he lost it,” Padmini Kolhapure explained. The actress admitted that she was enamored with Raj Kapoor and would have worked with him for the rest of her life if she could.
There was another major picture where the two could have collaborated again, but Padmini rejected it. She rejected Ram Teri Ganga Maili because of the kissing scene. While talking to a portal, she revealed that Raj Kapoor offered the film even after shooting with the Iconic Mandakini for 45 days. But because she was uncomfortable with the kissing scene, she said no.
Padmini Kolhapure and Raj Kapoor’s collaboration in Prem Rog gave the Hindi film industry a cinematic treasure.
