The fact that celebrities are more often than not embroiled in controversies is no news. And Priyanka Chopra is no exception. While the actress has become a global phenomenon today, there was a time when she received immense backlash for her statement on legendary actor Dilip Kumar. Well, here’s all you need to know.
It all happened back in 2011, when an Indian origin cardiologist, Dr. Fayaz Shawl accused Priyanka Chopra of abusing him on their flight from Mumbai to Dubai. It all began after the doctor advised Priyanka Chopra to stop talking on her cell phone as the flight was about to take off.

However, Dr. Fayaz, who has high profile clients like former Pakistan PM, Queen Elizabeth among others said that his suggestion did not go well with Priyanka Chopra. Dr. Fayaz was quoted by Hindustan Times saying, “At this, Priyanka turned to me and said, ‘Who the hell are you to stop me?’ I said, ‘Lady, had you been in the US, you would have been handcuffed for this.’ To this, she replied, ‘F*** US.’ I told her that I am a doctor and saw veteran actor Dilip Kumar in Mumbai.”

He further revealed Priyanka Chopra reacting at the mention of Dilip Kumar. Dr. Fayaz said, “She said, ‘Who the hell cares about that old man?’ So, I said, ‘You have no right to endanger my life and that of 250 other people.’ She then said: ‘Let’s go to the pilot.’ I told her that when we get off at Dubai, I could get her arrested for this.”
However, Priyanka Chopra had an absolutely different version of the story. The actress has given a clarification on all of Dr. Fayaz Shawl’s statements and said, “He is an attention seeker who started filming me on his phone despite my objections. He was drunk and threatened to call his friend, the Sheikh of Dubai, and get me into trouble. I challenged him to do that as I broke no rules. He later apologised.”
