Rohit Shetty is often considered to be functioning in constricted genres. While what he does is enough to have got him the tag of Manmohan Desai of today’s times but the actor when asked whether he will venture into a purer genre he reverted with, “When I try to make a romantic film, it turns out to be a Chennai Express!”
After a session of uproarious laughter on that, the director explained why it is difficult for him to turn towards a purer genre. He explains, “It depends on multiple aspects. What happens with my films is that it is always a large, big budget film and a lot of money is pumped into making the movie. It is essential for me to ensure that we recover that money. I cannot let a film fail because of which someone will have to sell their house. That defeats the point of filmmaking then. That makes no sense! This is my audience, I cater to them and I know how to make films for them.”
Rohit Shetty, after the brilliant success of Chennai Express last year, is all set to release the second edition of his Singham franchise. Following that, Rohit is all set to begin the pre-production work on his next film that stars Superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.
