Presenter of Kahaani, Jayantilal Gada has confirmed the news and asserted that the second part will be produced by both Sujoy Ghosh and Kushal Gada, his nephews.

Ghosh and Vidya shared a great working chemistry. Ghosh is presently in U.K giving the script of Kahaani 2, some final finishing touch. Vidya, according to Ghosh, is co-operative and almost serves as his muse. She was the reason why Sujoy wrote Kahaani and it will be impossible to imagine Kahaani 2 without her. Ghosh humorously adds, that the reason why he prefers Vidya is because she can tolerate his grumbling calmly.

Inside sources inform us that Sujoy had other plans post-Kahaani. But now after tasting such tremendous success, one cannot help but cash in maximum while the situation is lucrative. Kahaani 2 is scheduled to be released in 2013 and will be a suspense thriller and mysterious charm about it, just like the earlier film. The plot will be set in Kolkata and shot there again.

Kahaani was lauded by critics and won accolades for its simple presentation and delivering such power packed performances with a strong storyline. The screenplay and cinematography was brilliant, to say the least. The story revolved around Vidya who played a pregnant lady, who was looking for her husband in the city of Kolkata. The plain picturesque beauty of the city was shot and retained well, as well as the culture of Durga Puja and the festivities associated with it. The movie established Kolkata as the new shooting paradise for directors.
