Meghna Gulzar left everybody impressed with her recently released film Chhapaak and is now moving on to her next project based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Maneksaw. The makers announced the film with Vicky Kaushal’s first look as the martyr and sent a wave of excitement amongst the fans.
While Vicky’s first look as Sam Maneksaw was quite intriguing, you will be surprised to know that the Uri actor was not the first choice for the film. Meghna Gulzar was quite keen on working with Ranveer Singh in the film. Before approaching Vicky, the Chhapaak director had even approached Ranveer for the role but things did not work out between them.
Reports suggest that Ranveer kept delaying the script narration and Meghna then turned to Vicky to take up the role. Vicky and Meghna have earlier worked on Alia Bhatt starrer Raazi and the actor was more than ‘raazi’ to do the film on Sam Maneksaw with her.
However, after working with Ranveer’s wife Deepika Padukone in Chhapaak, Meghna is having second thoughts about the cast of the Sam Maneksaw biopic. In a report in Bollywood Hungama, a source has been quoted saying, “After getting along so well with Deepika making Chhapaak and getting such an amazing performance out of her, Meghna is having second thoughts about the casting of the Manekshaw biopic. We can only wait and watch.”

Reportedly, Meghna’s close friends and advisories also feel that Ranveer would be a better choice to play Field Marshal Manekshaw. Now, we will have to wait and see what Meghna will do about this and if she will ask Vicky to step down from the role or not.
Apart from this project, Vicky Kaushal will be seen in Karan Johar’s horror film franchise’s first part titled Bhoot Part 1: The Haunted Ship. He also has KJo’s magnum opus Takht where he will be seen essaying the role of Aurangzeb, while Ranveer will essay the role of Vicky’s brother Dara Shukoh.
