Vicky Kaushal is on a roll with some interesting script choices under his name. After nailing the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s friend in Sanju, the actor gave his breakthrough performance with Uri: The Surgical Strike. Last week, the announcement of Vicky’s collaboration with critically acclaimed filmmaker Meghna Gulzar for Sam Manekshaw’s biopic came in, thus sparking an excitement amongst the movie buffs. Along with the announcement, the first look of the actor was also revealed which received a mixed response from netizens.
The biopic is based on Sam Manekshaw, who was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted as Field Marshal. Some Twitter users pointed out the errors regarding the uniform which Vicky was donning, when compared with the original uniform of Sam Manekshaw and suggested the makers to consult some veterans to get it right.
One of the users tweeted, “Will request @adgpi / @atahasnain53 Sir and other Vererans who got a chance to serve under /
serve with the great #SamSaheb to come forward and assist @vickykaushal09 / @RonnieScrewvala get our FieldMarshal persons right. WillB great if @RonnieScrewvala reaches out to them.”

Further, Rtd. Lt Gen. Syed Ata Hussain replied on the same by stating that he would love to help the makers and also pointed out the mistakes of the first look. He quoted, “Would love it if consulted. Lt Gen Deepinder Singh, his MA, is there to give everything on him. Vicky Kaushal, for starters is wearing wrong colour badges of rank. Sam was a Gurkha, never wore brass, always black badges. I am proud to wear that too being a Garhwali Bhulla.”
Please convey to @RonnieScrewvala to first consult Gen Deepinder. I will make myself available anytime in service of the FM. We are both alumni of Sherwood College Nainital. https://t.co/S4BG2m2imu

Following the tweets, other users too asked the makers and Vicky Kaushal to look into the detailing by consulting veterans of the field.
@vickykaushal09 You should read this. And inform the producers. Bad research on their part to get basics wrong. Shudder to think what they will do with his story.

My friends veterans Lt Gen R Nanavatty and Brig Behram Panthaki were his ADCs.
They can be valuable resources. In fact Behram has published a book on Sam.— Ranjeet Singh (@hard2bhuman) June 28, 2019
Sir I recommend that all inputs to the producers should be processed as valuable inputs and the ESM and Regimental fraternity should become a stakeholder and a trust in the name of the Great General be the beneficiary which can later use the proceeds to keep his legacy alive.
