This week will see the release of Veere Di Wedding starring Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in lead. Although the title suggests that the film belongs the space of a fun family entertainer, the trailer has shocked everyone with the bold content and double meaning dialogues.

First things first, the film isn’t meant for everyone and would surely meet with a mixed reaction from the audience depending upon their mind-set. However, the major target audience for Veere Di Wedding is the female audience in the four major metros i.e. Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai and this set of audience is quite excited for Veere Di Wedding given the fact that a film like this has not been made in Hindi cinema till date. The female audience base from the age of 17 to 35 in the A Centers have already made plans with their girl gang to venture in the cinema halls over the opening weekend to watch Veere Di Wedding.

All in all, despite a limited appeal, the makers are quite clear about the audience base the film caters to, and the targeted marketing campaign so far should ensure a fair start at the Box-Office. The trailer of the film has worked for the target audience, and the song Tareefan is a smash hit, in-fact one of the biggest chartbusters of the year so far. The song has indeed set the buzz rolling in favour of the film.

Veere Di Wedding will release on over 1500 screens in India and the film is expected to open in the range of Rs 6 to 7 crore. If the film commands a positive word of mouth from the target audience, the biz should escalate over the weekend to sail past the Rs 20 crore mark.

Based on the face value, the film commanded a solid appeal among the youth of India, however the adult certificate should act as a major hindrance in letting it reach the true potential. To compare, without the adult certificate, the target audience of Veere Di Wedding would have been similar to Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, which was a massive hit riding on the power of youth.

None the less, as mentioned above, the trailer and songs have worked for the target audience which should ensure a good start, and it will be the content which will decide the fate of the film in long run. The collections at the B and C Centers will be dismissal, however the film was never quite looking at that audience, and they will have to wait for a couple a weeks to watch a film that would suffice their needs i.e. Race 3.
