With Valentine’s Day just around the corner what better way to celebrate it than with a mushy dose of Bollywood! When it comes to romance, there is no dearth of those heart-wrenching movies that make you go ‘Awwww’ and cuddle up with your sweetheart. Whether it is the running-around-the-trees or fighting against an all powerful Emperor, Bollywood is the perfect diet for Valentine’s Day. Here are some of our top Valentine’s Day picks:

Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! (1994)
Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit’s musical had us humming the film’s songs for years to come. The simple story of two lovers and their world is still a joy to watch. And you can still use the film’s title to flirt with that special someone.

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995)
It wasn’t the typical love-at-first-sight story but Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol fell head over heels in love with each other, and we, with them. The famous hug in the mustard fields, “Bade bade deshon mein choti choti batein hoti rehti hai” dialogue and many other scenes are permanent in our memory. No wonder that DDLJ completed 800 weeks at Maratha Mandir cinema in Bombay!

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)
Shah Rukh Khan isn’t called the Badshaah of Romance for nothing. Once again, he teamed up with Kajol in this triangle of college romance.

Maine Pyar Kiya (1989)
Salman Khan was the eye-candy of the season after his undying love for the coy Bhagyashree. Not that Salman has ever fallen out of the eye-candy list ever since.

Awara (1951)
A tramp and a hi-class lawyer fall in love. Raj Kapoor and Nargis warmed people with their depiction of an unlikely couple who fall in love against all odds. Then there’s the unforgettable song, Awara Hoon.

Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988)
Aamir Khan had arrived with his chocolate-boy looks and the guitar. Aamir teamed with Juhi Chawla in a contemporary take on Shakespeare’s play, Romeo And Juliet. With the song, Papa Kehte Hain, the movie had made it to people’s hearts.

Hum Tum (2004)
It didn’t start off as a conventional love-story but it was love found at last. Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee were opposites who finally found love in this rom-com.

Mughal-E-Azam (1960)
The epic love story of a prince’s unforgettable love for a court-dancer. Dilip Kumar and Madhubala’s grand romance remains a rare classic.

Jab We Met (2007)
Shahid Kapoor couldn’t get the blabbermouth Kareena Kapoor to stop talking, but the diametrically opposite characters fell for each other surrounded by so much drama that it was impossible not to adore them.

Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008)
The college romance didn’t have anything new to offer, but you could relate to each of the characters like they were someone you knew. Genelia D’souza and Imran Khan denied their feelings for each other, but you could tell that the lovebirds would end up together.
