Omung Kumar has given Priyanka Chopra the role of a lifetime. With the actress investing so much of her physical self and soul to the film, the actress is convinced that she can prove that she can carry a film all by herself just like Fashion in 2008. The new wave of Bollywood cinema has made it feasible for films with female protagonists to see the light of the day much easily these days. The success of Kangana Ranaut starrer Queen has in fact proved that actresses are capable of making a film commercially successful too.

Commenting on the same, Priyanka said, “We live in a very male dominated world. Despite so many female actresses, we still think like that as a society. Things are changing but disparities exist everywhere, even in Hollywood. After Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi, it hasn’t happened in India that female are getting roles that are equal to their male counterpart’s.”

Elucidating the dynamics of her statement, the actress added, “For example, there is too much talk about these 100 crores films. But take a film like Barfi which made 100 crores. You cannot deny me and Ileana D’Cruz in that film. That film is as much mine as it is Ranbir’s. Take Chennai Express, I don’t think anyone could be Meenamma as she was. It’s her credit completely! At the same time, you cannot give me credit for Krrish 3. I was a supporting actor in Krrish 3 or in Don. Like I have supported those big budget, 100 crores plus grossing mega films that have actors in pivotal to the film. I am really scared about Mary Kom. I am the only person in this film whom people know. I hope that I am enough for people to like. I hope with more actresses going for woman based films like Kahaani or Queen or Mardaani, actors will support us. To be able to do a Mary Kom, I have to do a Krrish 3. It makes an actor more commercially viable. To be noticed in a considerably long role in a commercially successful film is necessary for the producers to be able to invest in these films. There is a big Catch 22 situation here.”
