National award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi which is a biopic based on the life of former CM of Tamil Nadu J.Jayalalithaa happens to be one of the most talked-about and awaited releases of the year. Post garnering overwhelming responses for its first look motion posters of Kangana as Jayalalithaa, and Arvind Swami as MGR, the buzz surrounding the film is at its peak.
The latest news related to the Jayalalithaa biopic is, as per multiple reports, the makers have roped in Malayalam actress Shamna Kasim aka Poorna to play the role of politician and Jayalalithaa’s friend, Sasikala.

Shamna took to her twitter to share the news about being part of Thalaivi with a tweet that read, “Delighted to announce that I am now officially part of Thalaivi Movie, directed by @DirectorALVijay Sir. It’s truly a wonderful opportunity to be associated with the biopic of the Iron Lady J Jayalalitha ma’am and to work alongside #KanganaRenaut, @thearvindswami, @prakashraaj”

Prior to Shamna Kasim, Priyamani was supposed to portray the role of Sasikala in Thalaivi, but as per reports following some date issues, the Maidaan actress walked out of the project.
More about Thalaivi, the Jayalalithaa biopic also has veteran actor Prakashraj portraying the role of former Tamil Nadu CM, M.Karunanidhi, Bengali actor Jishhu Sengupta as Telugu actor Sohan Babu and actress Madhoo as VN Janaki i.e MGR’s wife.
The Jayalalithaa biopic is being helmed by AL Vijay, and it is being bankrolled by Shailesh R Singh.

Thalaivi will hit big screens on 26th June in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages.
