Celebrity endorsements have always been a big deal. Why? Certainly because of the big bucks involved in shaping up the brand identity. According to a report submitted by Economic Times and US consultancy firm American Appraisal, actors Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor emerged as two celebrities in India with more than $100-million valuation in a study based of brand evaluation.
The report suggests that in 15 celebrities in 2013-14 earned almost 50% of their annual income through brand endorsements.
Shah Rukh Khan tops the list with a valuation of $165 million, or a little over Rs 1,000 crores. The actor is a brand ambassador of various high-end brands such as Royal Stag, Hyundai etc. Second on the list is Ranbir Kapoor, who is associated with brands such as Pepsi, Cadbury Oreo, Saavn etc. Ranbir’s brand evaluation comes to a whopping $129.4 million. Amongst the actresses, only three ladies made it to the list. Deepika Padukone leads the race as she has a brand evaluation of $44.4 million, she is followed by Katrina Kaif whose brand value is $33.5 million. Actress Kareena Kapoor is placed third weighs similar to Katrina with a close $33.2 million.
