Hero actor Sooraj Pancholi woke up to a rude shock after he was blamed for the death of actress Jiah Khan six years ago after she committed suicide. Sooraj was in a relationship with Jiah when the actress took the drastic steps of ending her life.
A case has been registered against Sooraj and the matter is subjudice ever since. While Jiah’s mother, Rabia Khan and a huge section of media and public holds Sooraj guilty for Jiah’s tragedy, the actor himself has maintained a stoic silence about the matter.

And now in an interview with Pinkvilla the actor has finally opened up about what went wrong. The actor said, “I was put in the Anda cell at the Arthur Road jail which is the most secluded cell. You have no contact with anyone and you don’t even get newspapers. I was completely numb. At that point, nothing mattered. All that I kept thinking was that I lost someone who I loved.”

While Sooraj has been present for every hearing in the Special Women’s Court where the matter is being heard for years now, Rabia Khan, Jiah’s mother has hardly even been seen. Further elaborating on why has he chosen to stay silent for such a long time about whatever happened, Sooraj said, “I have actually been silent because I respect that family. I respect what the family has been through. But the media has become very irresponsible. They only care about their TRPs There are times when I’m in Court and things have been in my favour and a lot of journalists were there. I asked them, “Will you write this?” They told me they won’t because it’s a positive story and it won’t track. It’s unfair but I also believe in time.”
