Sonakshi Sinha had a small part to play in Dabangg but immensely benefited from the film’s blockbuster success. Though her ‘Thappad se pyaar nahi lagta‘ dialogue was much talked about, one still waited to see how she would fare in bigger parts.

Sonakshi Sinha In Rowdy Rathore

As things stand today, even though Rowdy Rathore is a double role show from Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi has managed to impress director Prabhu Devaa. So much so that the director has not just allowed a good screen time for her, but also re-written the romantic part in the film so that her part becomes far meatier than the original Telugu version, Vikramarkudu.

“The moment Sonakshi started performing, Prabhu Devaa, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Akshay Kumar were bowled over by her confidence and ability to get even the most difficult scenes right in her very first attempt”, informs a senior crew member, “There was no hesitation whatsoever on her part despite ‘Rowdy Rathore’ being her only second film. Though the south version had a good part for Anushka Shetty, Prabhu Devaa ensured that her chemistry with Akshay was far more crackling. He ensured that her part was re-written with good meaty scenes for the duo.”

However Prabhu doesn’t want to take credit for her ‘avatar’ and says that acting and dancing comes naturally to Sonakshi.

“Yes, her romantic track has been changed in ‘Rowdy Rathore’. Also, though people ask me whether there are any rough edges in her since she is just one film old, I feel that she is easily 25 films old”, says Prabhu who has earlier directed Ayesha Takia in Wanted, “You have to just read out the dialogues to her once and she is ready to give a take. Same holds true for her dances as well as she hardly needs much time to pick them up. Moreover she is quite punctual too. These are some of the basic traits required for a successful leading lady and Sonakshi has it all.”

He goes on to have the final word, “Sonakshi is not just a pucca commercial heroine, she is star material.”

Now haven’t we heard that before!
