A special event for honouring the Mumbai Police, Umang 2015 was held yesterday at the Andheri Sports Complex. As usual the event was a star-studded event. Although surprisingly, singer Ankit Tiwari who is put on bail for rape charges performed at the event. The event was also attended by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.
Tiwari’s performance sparked off controversy over allowing a crime accused star to perform. When asked about it, an IPS officer informed that there was no knowledge of who invited him to the event without checking the background of his case and even confirmed that usually they refrain those under the scanner from performing at such events.

The Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu famed singer was arrested in May last year under the charges of allegedly raping his girlfriend on several occasions and also a complaint was registered against his brother Ankur Tiwari. However, currently both the brothers are out on bail.
