Less than a a week remains for Shahid Kapoor to turn a year older and there is no sign yet of any celebrations in the offering. Is this a visible sign of a much mellowed actor in the B-town?
“Last year there was this massive drive around making everyone aware about how he was going to celebrate a three day long birthday party in Goa,” an observer remembers, “Right from bikini girls strutting around him to Nargis Fakhri being his ‘special guest’ to Priyanka Chopra not being invited to some of the key personalities from Mumbai making it to the event, there was a lot being said and written about Shahid’s birthday for days in advance as he turned 31. However this time around there is no noise whatsoever.”

Shahid’s birthday is on 25th February and by the look of things, the celebrations wouldn’t be as much publicised, if not equally expansive, as last year.

“His focus is on films and that’s what matters the most. If you closely see his progress during last few months, he has been away from the limelight for long now,” says a source, “He can make noise if he wants but as of now he is entirely concentrating on ensuring that his films are well made and turn out to be commercial successes as well.”
Though his last couple of films (Teri Meri Kahaani, Mausam) cound’t really rise to the occasion, fortunately for Shahid, no one pointed a finger on his performance. Now for Rajkumar Santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero with Tips and Prabhu Deva’s Rambo Rajkumar with Eros/Viki Rajani, he is furthermore making sure that the end product is as entertaining and audience friendly as it gets.
“Which means extended parties can wait,” adds another source, “His work is what brought him till point and that is what would define his years to come as well.”
About time that we heard the birthday plans from the horse’s month. Though it would be interesting to see if the chief guest (yet again) stays on to be Nargis Fakhri or there would be a surprise in store.
