Shahid Kapoor starrer Udta Punjab, based on Punjab’s drug crisis, has landed into trouble with the Central Board For Film Certification (CBFC).
According to a leading daily, the film has been grounded by the board over the excessive use of swear and cuss words. The release of the movie is put to a halt. Reports suggest that Anurag Kashyap, who is one of the producers of the movie, has approached Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for I&B, for the clearing of the movie.
The decision of the board to ground the movie has left the fans in anger and expressed it on Twitter with #ShameOnCensorBoard tag.
However there is no comment from the stakeholders of Udta Punjab. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh, the movie is set to release on June 17.
