Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh was a roaring hit and has gone on to become one of Bollywood’s highest grosser. While Shahid Kapoor has admitted to the fact that no one saw the film becoming such a blockbuster, he, however, does not want to take full credit for the feat that the film has achieved.
In his recent interview, Shahid has said that he is very well aware of the outcome of his hit, both personally and professionally. Also, as Shahid prepares for the shooting of Jersey, he says he feels a lot more responsible now!

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the Haider actor has said, “Usually, an actor’s film does ₹70 crores and then ₹100 crores, then ₹140 crores and ₹170 crore, and finally ₹200-crore plus. But my solo films never went above ₹70 crores and now, it’s straight at ₹280 crores (smiles). That jump is so big, it gives you clarity that yeh maine nahi kiya hai, yeh ho gaya hai.”

Prod him a little more, and Shahid says, “At the same time, I feel I have had a certain work process which got me here. So, there’s no need to change it. If I got here by doing the work I believe in, I should continue the same way. Otherwise, what tends to happen is you start overthinking (on scoring such a big hit) and ‘Ab main kya karoon’. But I’m like, ‘Kucch nahi karna hai, bas kaam karna hai.”
Coming back to Jersey, the film is a remake to the successful Telugu film with the same name that featured actor Nani in the lead role. The Hindi version will see Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles and will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri who also directed the original film.
Jersey is endearing sports-drama traces the life of an aged cricketer who is determined to prove his worth at the age of 36.
