Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh has proved to be a game-changer of his career. Despite all the talent and killer looks, Shahid has struggled for hits in his 16-year-old career, but one Kabir Singh proved his potential and gave him a blockbuster which is all set to touch the 250 crores mark in next few days.
It’s of course not has been all easy for Shahid and Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga who have constantly faced the wrath of a section of the audience and critics who called the film “misogynistic”.

But guess who inspired Shahid to play the role of Kabir Singh? His own wife Mira Rajput Kapoor.

Recently in an interview with Hindustan Times, Shahid revealed that he and Mira had watched the Telugu original Arjun Reddy together and Mira encouraged her to play the role in the Hindi remake because she wanted this role in his filmography. Shahid has been quoted as saying, “She was always very optimistic and believed that this is a character I should have in my filmography. We had watched Arjun Reddy together and she loved the director’s work and felt that the character had potential. And if we were able to get it right, it’d be a very special character in my life. So, Mira was very happy when she watched the film.”
Shahid recently took to Instagram to thank his fans after Kabir Singh crossed the 200 crores mark. In an emotional note, he wrote, “Your love is so overwhelming words will always fall short. Thank you for understanding him forgiving him and loving him with all your heart. We all fall apart. And we all must strive to rise from our faults. To be better. To be wiser. To be kinder. He is flawed. So are we all. You didn’t judge him you experienced him. You understood him. I have never ever felt so thankful. The most flawed character I have ever played. Has become my most loved. Indeed indian cinema and the audience has come a long way. More power to brave choices. More power to you all for your maturity and humanness. You have given me wings to fly. To not only be burdened by the need to be loved to be a star but to have the courage to be hated in equal measure to be an actor. Here’s to cinema mirroring life. To protagonists who don’t have to be restricted by their goodness and can be human and imperfect. There is perfection in imperfection and that is the beauty and the challenge of this human life. Thank you. Again and again. You all are the heroes of this story.”
Post Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor is in talks with Ram Madhvani for his next film. There are also reports that he will star in Telugu film Jersey’s Hindi remake along with his brother Ishaan Khatter.
