Shah Rukh Khan is truly one of the greatest movie stars, Bollywood or the entire world has ever seen. The actor has earned the tag of ‘the king of romance’ over his glorious career in Hindi film industry but also managed to break those shackles of a chocolate boy with some stunning out-of-the-league performances. Anti hero in the early years of the career, the icon of romance to playing the dwarf character, Shah Rukh’s filmography is the best example of versatility.
Speaking about myself, I became a fan of Shah Rukh after watching his heart melting performance in My Name Is Khan. While the character itself was something which could gain a sympathy, only Shah could have pulled off with such grace. After watching MNIK, I gone through Khan’s several offerings which gained a cult status over a time.

In the era during early 1990s, when there was a competition amongst all the actors to be the unbeatable, ‘Masihaa’ or ‘Sabko pyaar baatne waala’ hero, Shah changed the rule book by taking altogether a different route. He gave a glimpse of the variation he can pull off by doing some villainous roles in Darr, Baazigar and Anjaam (praiseworthy but risky script choices at that given time). And then we all know that how “haar ke jitne waala ladka” “kkkk…Kiran Bolte bolte” “dulhaniya ke Saath Saath audience Ka Dil le Gaya”. The romantic movies that followed afterwards, turned this performer into one of the biggest stars of Bollywood ever. But more than his romantic roles ( which sometimes gives the feel of overrates ones), his realistic, pragmatic and unromantic roles are something to look out for. Despite being loved unanimously for portraying a lover boy, Shah Rukh tried his hands at different characters, which is true sign of a good actor.

During 2003-2008, which is described as one of the bad phases of Bollywood, SRK was amongst the top 3 stars, who managed to bring in audiences into theatres. While his Swades, Chak De India and MNIK showed us different side of the actor, with Ra.One, he tried to bring the whole new world of high end visual effects and technology in Bollywood. The commercial potboilers like Chennai Express and Happy New Year might be Khan’s biggest hits ever, but the ‘experimental keeda’ in him prompted to choose offbeat roles in Fan, Dear Zindagi, Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero. While most of those experiments failed terribly on the commercial front, it’s Shah’s desire and crave to cater something different that makes him most sought after actors of the industry (as he is said of having 10 scripts in hand despite Zero debacle) even in his worst phase.
Yes, our beloved star is taking some time to announce his next project and all the fans might need to wait longer to catch him on the big screen but as he quoted in one of his recent interviews, “I hope the day never comes when I am so tired that I tell myself that it is ok to do just a regular film which will get made in 40 days, release soon, become a box office hit and I can buy myself a new car and be happy. That thought scares me,” assures that he is still unaffected by box office rat race and will come up with something new and the best.
So all the SRK ians just keep calm, let’s bear social media trolls for some more time and give our actor the much needed break as it’s just a matter of a good script and the chants of ‘Bollywood King’ will revive once again.
