"Shaadi Ke Side Effects Is Not Really A Continuation Film" – Farhan & Vidya

Amongst the things that are hard to miss about the upcoming film Shaadi Ke Side Effects is the effortless chemistry of its lead pair. Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan are actors who are brought in together from quite distinct walks and styles of cinema. What binds them perhaps is their excellence and mastery at their job. In an interview to Koimoi, the actors spoke about how Shaadi Ke Side Effects doesn’t qualify as a sequel per say.

Farhan chuckled about how he and Vidya have plans on going out for dinner with Rahul Bose and Mallika Sherawat who had played the roles of Sid and Trisha respectively in the film’s earlier edition. Both Vidya and Farhan seemed keen on discussing with Rahul and Mallika, the side effects of working with Saket and PNC.

However on being asked about SKSE being a sequel, the Farhan said, “The characters of Sid and Trisha aren’t the same ones we saw in PKSE. Only their names are similar. This isn’t really a continuation film. Eventually we are trying to not make PKSE but a very bright new film.”

Ask Vidya about what really struck her in Pyaar Ke Side Effects and gleefully she said, “Oh I had enjoyed PKSE. I loved the vocabulary of the film and I don’t mean the dialogues but the way the story was told. The humor they used is dealing with commitment related issues which always has a big melodrama attached to it was done beautifully by Saket. And I am happy to be doing SKSE based on the script, ofcourse.”

However, the film wasn’t much of a box office hit apparently despite being of the pathbreaking vein. Ask Farhan and he says, ” It is rare that a film is appreciated by everybody. Most films have a circle of people who will criticize it. That’s a fact of life. To base anything on a film that has been made in the past would be unfair to Saket and this script. We are just basing our decision on saying yes to something that we are going to be part of.”

Shaadi Ke Side Effects is all set to hit the theatres this Friday and it is hard to not notice the subtle humor in the film that might remain its primary USP. However, it is yet for us to see whether the film entertains us as much as its trailer did.
